ABOUT THE ARTIST Swapan Kumar Das was born and brought up in Kolkata. He holds a Fine Arts diploma specializing in painting from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, where he is currently a teacher, and a postgraduate degree from Viswa Bharati University, Santiniketan. He was also awarded a scholarship by the Japanese Government, which enabled him to live and study in Japan for a few years before returning to teach and paint in Kolkata. This young artist has also won a national scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development to pursue his interest in graphic art at the Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi and has gone on to receive several honors for his contribution to the graphic genre from many different state, national, and international organizations. The governments of Norway and Taiwan have also recognized Swapan's artistic talent and honored him with prestigious awards. Das has exhibited his works widely in India, Japan, France, Norway, the United Kingdom, and Thailand.
