Anjan Modak feels that the modern society is always going through a crisis termed by him as, disasters., Be it terrorist attacks or the desire for supremacy by the Gorkhas of North Bengal. The political and social state of the country sets his thoughts ticking and this has a very strong influence on his paintings. His self-questions and expressions on the political and social condition of the country are also portrayed through his paintings.
