Monsoon Ride-IV

Somnath Bothe was born in 1982 in Paithan, Aurangabad District, Maharashtra, and works in Pune, Maharashtra, as a highly talented artist. He earned a Diploma in Art from the University of Mumbai (Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune). He is a recipient of a Gold Medal from the Royal National Academy, Gulbarga, Karnataka; a Gold Medal from the Varnika Manav Sanket National College Student, Ujjain; and a Silver Medal from the Kalawart Nyas National College Student, Ujjain.

His artistic career began with landscapes and portraits. He began to reflect on the sensibility and intention of his paintings, having spent his entire childhood in the village, developing a close relationship with it.

A profound respect for nature and humility inspire my paintings. Later, education and urban life gave me new sensibilities and a greater understanding of the interweaving of these different environments and cultures, which were indirectly reflected in my painting. My paintings are colourful, vibrant, sometimes nostalgic, and purely conversational pieces. Sober and serene by nature, painting is my language.

His way of presenting his creations. His colour palettes are modern and striking, but this is intentional, to remind us of the importance of historical sites. The fusion of the rainy season and the historical sites of cities and towns constitutes the themes of his paintings. Now, painting is not just a technique; it has become a means of expression for him. 

His creations represent a beautiful blend of diverse geographies and cultures. Passion for humanity, love and affection, and the fusion of rural and urban life are the themes of his works, and popular human figures occupy a central place in most of his works.
