ABOUT THE ARTIST

Somnath Bothe was born in 1982 in Paithan, District - Aurangabad, Maharashtra, and works in Pune, Maharashtra as an artist of tremendous talent. He obtained a Diploma in Art from the University of Mumbai (Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune). He has received a Gold Medal from the Royal Academy, National Level, Gulbarga, Karnataka, and a Gold Medal, from the Varnika Manav Sanket National College Student, Ujjain, and a Silver Medal, from the Kalawart Nyas National College Student, Ujjain as well.

His journey in the field of art began with landscapes and portraits. He started thinking about the sensitivity and intention of the paintings. As he spent his entire childhood in the village, he had a close relationship with the city.

A deep respect for nature and humility are the inspiration for my paintings. Then, education and city life created new sensibilities and understandings of the blending of these different environments and cultures which indirectly flowed into his paintings. His paintings are colorful, vibrant, nostalgic at times, and pure conversation pieces. Subdued and calm paintings by nature are his language.

his way of displaying his creations. His color schemes are modern and eye-catching but this is intentional, to remind us of the importance of historical places. The fusion of the rainy season and historical places in cities and towns constitute the themes of his paintings. Now painting is not just a technique, it has become a medium of expression for him.

his creations depict a beautiful blend of varied geographies and cultures. The passion to appreciate humanity, love and affection, and the fusion of village and city life are the themes of his works and popular human figures find a central place in most of his artworks.
