ABOUT THE ARTIST
Swapan Kumar Das was born and brought up in Kolkatta. He has a Diploma in Fine Arts with a painting focus from the Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkatta where he is a teacher now, and a postgraduate degree from the Viswa Bharati University at Santiniketan. He also received a fellowship from the Japanese Government which allowed him to live and study in Japan for a few years before he came back to teach and paint in Kolkata.
This young artist has also won a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development to pursue his interest in graphic art at the Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi, and following that has received several honours for his contribution to the genre of graphics from many different state-level, national and international organizations. The governments of Norway and Taiwan have also recognized Swapan's artistic talent and have honoured him with prestigious awards.
Das has exhibited his works extensively in India, Japan, France, Norway, the United Kingdom and Thailand.
